Take Action: Tell Rep. Newhouse to Fund Communities, Not Chaos

Indivisible national’s campaign needs our help!  Fund Communities, Not Chaos campaign. This effort is focused on maximizing our power to block any further slush funds for ICE and Border Patrol’s brutality and holding key Republicans accountable for enabling Trump’s agenda. Representative, Dan Newhouse, is a critical target for this campaign. 

We would love to ramp up pressure on key Republicans over the next few weeks in particular as they rush to pass a budget reconciliation bill with billions more for ICE and Border Patrol - please see more background below and resources for action! 

WHAT’S HAPPENING: We expect key Senate committees to debate and vote on May 19 on the new GOP bill to supercharge Trump’s mass deportation machine with over $70 billion - on top of the $170 billion passed in last year’s Big Ugly Bill - as well as $1 billion for Trump’s ballroom. Republicans will likely bring the bill to a full Senate vote and the House soon after, as they rush to enact this megabill by Trump’s arbitrary deadline of June 1. That means we need to turn up the heat NOW on these Members of Congress.

WHY THIS MATTERS: Republicans have very narrow majorities in both the House and Senate and this bill is wildly unpopular, doing absolutely nothing to lower the cost of living while spending billions on concentration camps and masked agents brutalizing our neighbors. They’re rushing to jam this funding through Congress as quickly as possible to appease Trump and before their constituents have a chance to weigh in. That’s where we come in!
