Each week, we will highlight one constitutional amendment and explain what it means in clear, everyday language.

This week, we are looking at Section 2 of Amendment 14.

What it means: Section 2 of the Fourteenth Amendment addresses how representation in Congress is counted among the states. It also says that if a state denies or limits voting rights for eligible citizens, that state’s representation in Congress can be reduced. 🗳️⚖️

Why it matters: This section connects voting rights directly to political representation. It reminds us that when people are excluded from the democratic process, their communities can lose power and voice. 🏛️💙

Learning about the Constitution helps all of us better understand our rights and the role we each play in a healthy democracy. 📜✨
