Each week, we will highlight one constitutional amendment and explain what it means in clear, everyday language.
This week, we are looking at Amendment 13.

What it means: The Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude in the United States, except as punishment for a crime after conviction. It also gives Congress the power to enforce this protection through law. ⚖️📜
Why it matters: This amendment represents one of the most important steps toward freedom and equality in our nation’s history. It reminds us that liberty must be protected, defended, and extended to all people. 🕊️💙
Learning about the Constitution helps all of us better understand our rights and the role we each play in a healthy democracy. 📜✨
